The long way home
Taking the slower route, and finding a different story along the way.

This is a demonstration essay about an imagined journey. It is not a biographical account.
There is a path that arrives sooner, and another that follows the edge of the water. In this imagined journey, we take the second one.
The extra distance changes very little on a map. On foot, it changes the whole afternoon.
What a detour gives back
- A different angle on a familiar place.
- A chance to hear a sound before seeing its source.
- Time for a thought to finish itself.
The point is not to make every journey longer. It is to remember that arriving is only one part of going somewhere.
